About Zima Automotive
Who We Are
Zima Automotive is a family-owned European auto repair specialist serving drivers in Springfield and Clark County since 2014. The shop also offers domestic repair services for households that need support with multiple types of vehicles. We work out of one location on Urbana Road.
Max Zima started the shop on a simple idea: diagnose the vehicle correctly before you recommend anything. Every recommendation is backed by a Digital Vehicle Inspection with photos sent straight to your phone. If a technician cannot show you the failure, we do not sell you the repair.
The biggest problem Max wanted to solve was the lack of trust between customers and repair shops. That same approach still guides the shop today. The team does more than ask you to approve a repair. They explain the reasoning behind each recommendation, help you understand what matters most, and give you the information you need to make a confident decision.
We want to be the shop European vehicle owners in Clark County trust with their BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. We also want to be the repair relationship the rest of the household can count on, whether it is for the family SUV or the work truck.
From our shop at 4800 Urbana Road, we keep European vehicle owners, local families, and small businesses on the road day to day. For more than a decade, drivers have continued to return because they know what to expect. Honest diagnostics, clear communication, and lasting repairs remain at the center of every visit.

Why We Specialize in European Auto Repair
European vehicles rely on diagnostic systems and repair procedures that differ from domestic platforms. That difference is a big part of why Zima Automotive built its reputation around European makes specifically.
We also kept domestic and Asian repair capability in-house. That way, Clark County families with a mix of vehicles do not have to split their repairs across multiple shops.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is simple: we invest in our Character, Culture, and Creativity to change the way car care is done. That means we are not just fixing vehicles. We are building better people, better systems, better customer experiences, and a better standard for this industry.
That mission grew out of a simple goal Max had on day one. It is to restore good faith and trust to an industry where too many people feel talked down to or sold something they do not need.
Twenty years from now, we want Zima Automotive to be remembered as a shop that helped change the reputation of auto repair. Not only for the way vehicles were fixed, but for how customers were treated and how our people were developed.
We want to be known as a shop that built trust, invested in people, served the community, and stood for something bigger than fixing cars.

Our Core Values
Truthfulness: We tell the truth, even when it's uncomfortable, including when the news about your vehicle isn't what you were hoping to hear.
Respect: We respect our customers, our team, and their time, which is why every visit starts with a real conversation instead of a sales pitch.
Work Ethic: We believe in doing the hard work required to do the job right, even when a faster, easier fix is available.
Humility:
We stay teachable and know we can always improve, so training here never really stops.
Accountability: We take responsibility for our actions, our mistakes, and our results, which is why qualifying repairs come backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
Our Repair Philosophy
"Diagnose first, recommend second" is more than a phrase around here. It is the rule every technician works under: find the root cause before any part gets sold. That mindset shapes how a vehicle gets handled from the moment it rolls into the bay to the moment the keys return to you.
These are the values and the standards our team holds to on every visit, for every vehicle, across Clark County.

Our Culture
We run Zima Automotive as a small, single-location shop on purpose. It is much easier to hold everyone to one standard when the whole team works out of the same building. That standard can remain consistent rather than being stretched thin across multiple locations.
We look for technicians who communicate just as well as they diagnose. Here, explaining a finding to a customer is just as much a part of the job as fixing the vehicle.
Technicians train continually so our diagnostic skills keep pace with the complexity of modern vehicles. Before anything gets authorized, our service staff walks each customer through the findings on their own vehicle.
Around the shop, it comes down to one question we ask ourselves: would we be comfortable explaining this repair to a family member? If the answer's no, we do not recommend it.
Meet Max Zima, Owner of Zima Automotive
Max Zima grew up in Detroit working alongside his father and hero, Glenn Zima. He taught Max what hard work, honesty, and doing a job right actually look like. Those lessons carried Max through the Chrysler Apprenticeship Program, where he spent two years training and earned an associate degree in applied science and an associate degree in general studies, and into a career as a certified technician from 1999 to 2007.
A few hard years in an industry that felt more focused on transactions than people eventually led him to step away. He went on to serve as a missionary in the Philippines from 2007 to 2012, where he found his real calling: serving people, not just fixing cars. He came home and built Zima Automotive around that idea, one honest relationship at a time.
"I wanted to build a place where customers were educated instead of pressured, where employees were developed instead of just managed, and where doing the right thing mattered more than just making the sale," Max says.

The Team Behind the Work
Zima Automotive runs as a single-location shop with a small team held to the same standard on every ticket. The habit that defines the team is simple: show the customer the failed component or the diagnostic reading before recommending the fix.
That is what makes our transparency real instead of just a marketing claim. It is also the part of the job we hire and train for as seriously as the wrench work.
