Oxygen Sensor Service Video
A check engine light and poor gas mileage can point to an oxygen sensor problem. This sensor sits in the exhaust stream. It helps the engine computer read how much oxygen remains after the fuel burns.
An oxygen sensor can cause poor fuel economy, higher emissions, rough running, or a check engine light when it sends incorrect or delayed data.
The engine uses this data to adjust the air-to-fuel ratio. If the signal is wrong, the fuel injectors may send too much or too little fuel. That can make the car feel weak or use more gas than normal.
Springfield drivers often deal with cold starts, short trips, and stop-and-go traffic on I-70, US-40, and Route 68. Wet roads and road salt can also be hard on exhaust parts and sensor wiring under the car.
At Zima Automotive, we do not replace an O2 sensor from a code alone. We scan the system, check sensor data, and look for issues such as a vacuum leak, fuel problem, exhaust leak, or catalytic converter issue.
This matters for daily drivers, work vehicles, family SUVs, and European cars in Clark County. Drivers from Urbana and Mechanicsburg may visit our Springfield shop when the check engine light is on and gas mileage drops.
If your check engine light is on or your car uses more fuel, call Zima Automotive at (937) 342-3911. You can schedule our engine diagnostics service so the team can find the real cause. You can also choose auto service near I-70 for clear answers before replacing parts.
