Radiator Cap Service Video

A radiator cap is small, but it has an important job. It helps hold pressure in the cooling system, which helps the coolant do its job while the engine runs. A bad radiator cap can cause coolant loss, overheating, coolant overflow, or low coolant.

The cap has a spring and a rubber seal. If the seal is weak, coolant can leak or move into the overflow tank too soon. If pressure drops, the engine may run hotter than normal.

Springfield weather can make cooling problems show up faster. Hot summer days, cold Ohio mornings, and driving near I-70, US-40, and Route 68 can add stress to the cooling system.

At Zima Automotive, we check more than the coolant level. We inspect the radiator cap, pressure, coolant condition, hoses, and nearby parts. This helps us find the real cause of coolant loss or overheating.

Drivers from Urbana and Mechanicsburg may visit our Springfield shop when the temperature gauge rises or the coolant keeps getting low. If your vehicle is losing coolant or running hot, call Zima Automotive at (937) 342-3911. If the cap does not hold pressure, our radiator repair service can check for cap failure, coolant leaks, and overheating.
