Spark Plugs Video

A worn spark plug can make your engine shake, miss, or feel weak. Spark plugs sit in each cylinder and produce the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture. That small spark helps the engine start, idle, and make power.

Bad spark plugs can cause misfires, rough idle, hard starts, weak power, poor fuel use, or a check engine light.

Each plug has a small gap where the spark jumps. Over time, the tips wear down, and the gap can grow. When the spark is weak, fuel may not burn properly.

Springfield driving can add wear. Cold Ohio starts, short trips, and local driving around I-70, US-40, and Route 68 can make spark plug problems easier to feel. You may notice shaking at lights, a slow start, or a stumble when you press the gas.

At Zima Automotive, we do not replace spark plugs based on a guess. We scan for codes, check misfire data, look at the ignition coils, and inspect the plugs when needed. This helps show if the plug is bad or if another part is causing the misfire.

This matters for daily drivers, work vehicles, family SUVs, and European cars in Clark County. Drivers from Urbana and Mechanicsburg may visit our Springfield shop when the engine runs rough or the check engine light comes on.

If your car shakes, misfires, or feels weak, call Zima Automotive at (937) 342-3911. Ask about our engine diagnostics and repair service if spark plugs or misfires need to be checked. A Springfield auto shop can inspect the spark plugs before worn electrodes, misfires, or poor ignition lead to rough starts and weak engine performance.
